John Isley is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger, composer and studio engineer with years of diverse experience in the music industry as a performer, musical director, project manager and studio owner/manager. IsleyMusic LLC strives to offer a variety of services based on John’s commitment to excellence and to producing the highest quality level of services our clients seek.
As a performer John has toured all over the world with a variety of performers and shows. He has been featured with Bernard Purdie’s All Star Band, The Matt “Guitar” Murphy Blues Band, They Might Be Giants, The Spinners, The Four Tops, Mary Wilson, and The Temptations, among many others. He is a founding member of the acclaimed New York Horns.
As a member of New York Horns, John’s skills as a composer have been heard on daytime talk shows such as Sally Jesse Raphael, the Maury Povich Show, and the Montel Williams show among others. His saxophone playing can be heard on a number of national jingles and tv shows, including the Bill Cosby cartoon series, Li’l Bill, and his writing and arranging services have been utilized by J Records, and Sony Music.
As a producer and studio engineer, John has a number of albums and projects to his credit,
including New York Horns’ “Brass Kickers,” “Live Brass” and “Little Bit O’ Christmas;” Group Therapy’s “Music of Multiple Minds;” Anibal Rojas’ “Ah-Knee-Ball;” and most recently Matthew Friedman and Kyle Martin: “Stories In Lights” which is being released on the IsleyMusic label.
Within music technology John has extensive experience in the installation and operation of computer based DAW systems including Pro-Tools, Digital Performer, Logic, Ableton Live and others.
